When Emily works with a new client, she begins by identifying the ideal immigration experience her client wishes to achieve—an experience that is as unique as the client’s business objectives, culture and challenges. She then builds backward from that vision, reverse engineering a bespoke immigration program out of the multiplicity of services Fragomen offers—a program focused on delivering an innovative, frustration-free customer experience.

Emily’s approach fashions unexpected avenues for service by combining Fragomen’s renowned mainline immigration offerings with the firm’s lesser-known capabilities; examples include a white-glove program drawing on Fragomen’s technology and multilingual professionals to help non-English speaking foreign nationals move seamlessly through an otherwise daunting business travel experience. Her ability to identify blind spots and compliance risks in existing programs—often inferred, forensically, from seemingly unrelated program data—is an added benefit. The result: top-tier immigration services that turn challenges into innovative solutions and uncover surprising sources of value for the client while delivering best in class client service.

This focus on the client’s vision makes her an ideal counselor not only for established immigration programs of all sizes but also for companies in novel, rapid-growth industries where immigration policy is still evolving; she has demonstrated value to players in the emerging industries of space tourism and aerospace transportation, for example.

Companies in traditional sectors, including the e-commerce, entertainment and financial services industries, rely on her ability to master standard industry practices and policies—and break with them when advantageous—along with her ability to create operational efficiencies that improve the customer experience for clients and their employees alike.

Emily’s experience before Fragomen informs her work to this day. She gathered invaluable practical insights into the immigration system as a Supervisory Asylum Officer with U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS); she also instructed students in the theory of immigration law and appellate advocacy as an adjunct professor at the Pepperdine University School of Law.

Emily is dedicated to pro bono service. She has worked as a pro bono attorney for Kids in Need of Defense (KIND), the preeminent international nongovernmental organization devoted to the protection of unaccompanied and separated children. She also worked on asylum applications for Afghan refugees under the auspices of the International Institute of Los Angeles, which provides legal services for Afghan humanitarian parolees, SIV applicants, asylum seekers and asylees.

Emily speaks English and Spanish.
